Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Network Monitoring and Remediation (NMR) team in Seattle. You will design streaming data pipelines, build automated remediation services, and craft diagnostic tooling to detect and resolve network impairments before customers notice.

You will mentor teammates and collaborate across disciplines to deliver reliable, scalable systems that impact millions of customers daily.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Responsibilities

• Design and build streaming data pipelines that ingest network telemetry at scale, and develop the automated remediation services that act on those signals in real time.
• Create and improve diagnostic tooling that helps network operators quickly identify and resolve the issues automation has not yet addressed.
• Participate actively in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to teammates, and mentor other engineers on writing well-documented, reliable software.
• Collaborate with network engineers, data scientists, and product partners to translate operational needs into clear system designs and working solutions.
• Identify root causes of operational issues, drive improvements to your team's technical processes, and evaluate new tools and approaches, including generative AI, to raise productivity and code quality.
