Job summary

Attentive is hiring a Software Engineer to build full-stack experiences with React/TypeScript and Java/Spring Boot exposure. You’ll craft intuitive interfaces, scalable backend services, and observability tooling for marketers, collaborating with product, design, and engineers to deliver high-performance applications.

This role emphasizes modern frontend patterns, performance optimization, and cross-functional teamwork to ship customer-facing features and maintain a robust, evolving platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years frontend software development.
• Proficient in React and TypeScript; exposure to Java/Kotlin/Spring Boot.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable, customer-facing, high-performance applications.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience leveraging agentic AI coding tools to accelerate development.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Solid understanding of software development best practices (code reviews, tests, CI).
• Experience with React Testing Library and Playwright.
• Interest in new technologies while using them judiciously.
• Curiosity, ownership and passion for high-quality software.

About the Role

The Integrations Experiences team develops features that help Attentive's customers work with the data they send into and out of Attentive. We deliver customer-facing observability tooling, our Integrations Marketplace, onboarding experiences, and capabilities that help marketers grow their audiences through continuous investment in creative tooling and AI-powered optimization.

As a Software Engineer, you'll build full-stack experiences that make complex data workflows intuitive and actionable for customers. You'll design modern React applications and develop backend services that power Attentive's customer-facing products. Working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers, you'll shape features from concept to production, balancing user experience, performance, and scalability.

What You’ll Accomplish

• Develop and maintain intuitive, reusable, and user-friendly web interfaces backed by scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Implement and optimize systems to enable customer observability into Attentive’s event-based platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product, and design to build applications that support communication channels for marketers
• Improve code quality through code reviews, testing, and advocating for best practices
• Identify and address technical debt to ensure the long-term health of our codebase
• Contribute to technical decisions and stay current with emerging technologies to enhance our product

Your Expertise

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development focusing on frontend systems
• Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript, including modern frontend development patterns, performance optimization, and responsive UI development. Exposure to backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin and Spring Boot is a plus.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable, customer-facing, high-performance applications
• You have development experience with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Experience leveraging agentic AI coding tools to accelerate software development while exercising strong engineering judgment.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Solid understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, writing tests, and continuous integration
• Experience with testing frameworks such as React Testing Library and Playwright.
• You are excited by new technologies but are conscious of choosing them for the right reasons
• Curiosity, ownership, and a passion for delivering high-quality, user-friendly software.

What We Use

• Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, paired with technologies like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
• Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, AirFlow, Postgres, and Redis, hosted via AWS
• Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
• Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm
• Our automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000 - $170,000 annually+ equity + benefits
• Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
