Attentive is hiring a Software Engineer in New York with 3+ years of backend and frontend experience across Java, Python, Go, React, and TypeScript. You will contribute to scalable microservices, implement automated testing, and collaborate with Product and Design.

The role supports hybrid work with onsite coordination in New York when not telecommuting. You will apply cloud ops knowledge on AWS and Kubernetes, focus on performance and reliability, and help advance Attentive’s AI-powered

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE or related field plus 3 years of software engineering experience.
• 3 years backend services with Java, Python, and Go.
• 3 years frontend with React and TypeScript.
• 3 years frontend tooling using ESBuild and Playwright.
• 3 years Agile development with cross-functional teams.
• 1 year implementing cloud operations and proactive monitoring.
• 1 year designing scalable microservices and modular frontend systems.
• 1 year deploying cloud apps on AWS with Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-driven products that empower marketers to acquire subscribers and drive revenue growth.
• Contribute to code quality and system architecture with leadership and reviews.
• Develop high-quality consumer experiences with performance, scalability, reliability, and usability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and Design to deliver user-focused solutions.
• Implement robust testing strategies including unit, integration, and automated UI tests.
• Apply software engineering principles to design, develop, and enhance complex systems.
• Architect and integrate distributed and microservices-based platforms for scalability.
• Hybrid work model with onsite presence in New York when not telecommuting.

• Design and build AI-driven products that empower marketers to acquire subscribers and drive sustainable revenue growth
• Contribute to overall code quality and system architecture, providing both direct code contributions, code-reviews, and long-term technical leadership to support scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Develop high-quality consumer experiences, ensuring software meets standards of performance, scalability, reliability, and usability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and Design teams to deliver user-focused solutions while maintaining quality and minimizing technical debt
• Implement robust testing and quality assurance practices, proactively preventing regressions through unit, integration, and automated testing strategies
• Apply advanced software engineering and computer science principles to design, develop, and enhance complex software systems
• Architect and integrate distributed and large-scale systems, leveraging system engineering, software engineering, and system integration best practices to deliver secure and reliable platforms
• Partial telecommuting is permitted; onsite at 136 Madison Avenue, 8th Floor, New York, New York 10016 when not telecommuting

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field plus 3 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position performing design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable software applications.

Must also have the following:

• 3 years of professional experience developing backend services and high-scale, data-driven applications using programming languages including Java, Python, and Go
• 3 years of professional experience building and maintaining modern, responsive, and scalable web user interfaces using React and TypeScript
• 3 years of professional experience using modern frontend development tools including ESBuild, and Playwright to build optimized interfaces and implement automated UI testing
• 3 years of professional experience working in Agile development environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality, user-focused software solutions
• 1 year of professional experience implementing Operational Excellence frameworks in cloud environments, focusing on proactive monitoring, incident management, automation, and cost optimization to maintain scalable, secure, and efficient systems
• 1 year of professional experience designing and working with scalable micro-services and modular front-end systems
• 1 year of professional experience deploying and managing cloud-based applications on modern cloud platforms, including AWS, leveraging managed Kubernetes services for scalable and resilient infrastructure.

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $131,997 - $230,000 per year. annually+ equity + benefits
• Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
