Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks a Software Engineer II to support space-centric programs across the DoW and IC. You will join a fast-paced startup environment, solving hard problems and delivering impactful software for mission operations.

Responsibilities include building modern full-stack applications, integrating legacy space software, and developing distributed systems with microservices and cloud-native architectures. A strong candidate will embrace DevSecOps and collaborate with engineers and operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field.
• 2+ years of software engineering experience.
• Foundation in object-oriented or systems programming (C++, Rust, C#, etc.)
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker), REST APIs, or microservices
• Exposure to embedded development or cloud development is a plus
• Strong desire to learn space-domain systems, DLT, DevSecOps, and distributed architectures
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Travel up to 10%.

• Work closely with space system engineers, mission integrators, and operations teams.
• Contribute to a mission-focused engineering culture where your ideas truly shape the product.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field.
• 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Foundation in object-oriented or systems programming (C++, Rust, C#, etc.)
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker), REST APIs, or microservices
• Exposure to embedded development or cloud development is a plus
• Strong desire to learn space-domain systems, DLT, DevSecOps, and distributed architectures
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position along with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Existing security clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
• Experience supporting DoD/IC programs.
• Experience building software for spacecraft, OPS software, or flight/ground segment integration.
• Experience with high-performance computing, distributed processing, or real-time systems.
• Experience with performance tuning and resource-constrained environments.
• Experience with DevSecOps, IaC, and automated test frameworks.
• Familiarity with DLT, blockchain, or consensus protocols.
• Experience with modern UI/UX frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte, Blazor, etc.).

$113,000 - $136,000 a year
