Job description

Built is a growth-stage company at the intersection of FinTech and PropTech. We are on a mission to change the way the world gets built with technology and services that streamline the $1.4T U.S. construction industry.

By providing a centralized platform for all industry stakeholders, Built enables increased efficiency, collaboration, transparency, and business agility—allowing customers to build and manage the communities around us more profitably and with more confidence. The Built platform is used by hundreds of leading North American lenders and asset managers, and thousands of developers, home builders, and contractors. Since our founding in 2015, we've partnered with over 140 of the top financial institutions in the U.S. and Canada, including 35+ of the top 100 U.S. construction lenders.

With our latest $1.5B valuation, we’re on a continued growth trajectory and are committed to attracting the best talent in the world. We want you to be a part of this exciting journey.

Built is looking for a Software Engineer II to join our Ecosystem Team, where we help improve collaboration in the construction lending industry. We work with financial institutions to streamline communication and create a platform that simplifies project management and stakeholder collaboration. You'll be working with modern technologies to build core features that support multiple workflows, making a real impact on our platform. As part of this team, you'll work cross-functionally, solve problems, and implement solutions to ensure our system remains fast, reliable, and aligned with our shift toward an event-driven architecture.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain solutions that improve collaboration, reduce turnaround times, and enhance user experience.
  2. Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality features while managing technical debt.
  3. Address issue backlogs by identifying pain points, prioritizing resolutions, and implementing fixes.
  4. Provide and receive thoughtful feedback during peer code reviews.
  5. Participate in team discussions, valuing diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration.
  6. Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and performance.
Technologies:
  • Nest.JS with TypeScript for backend
  • React, single-spa, and GraphQL for frontend
  • DynamoDB for our database
  • AWS for hosting and infrastructure
  • Docker & Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration
  • GitHub for source code management and continuous integration
Qualifications:
  1. A degree in computer science (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) or equivalent work experience.
  2. 2+ years of experience building web applications.
  3. Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB).
  4. A strong sense of ownership and accountability in your work.
  5. Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to overcome challenges.
  6. A collaborative mindset and commitment to working well with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with distributed, containerized, and microservice architectures.
  2. Familiarity with event-driven systems like pub/sub messaging or event sourcing.
  3. Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
  4. Proficiency in cloud-native development, especially with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  5. Exposure to financial systems or transactional data workflows is a plus.

Built’s salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees. Your total rewards package at Built will include equity, top-notch medical, dental and vision coverage, an unlimited PTO policy, and other benefits.

Remote Team Member Travel Requirements:
  • For remote roles: Travel to Nashville for team events, including Connect Week, is required—typically two weeks per year.
  • For Manager-level roles and above: Up to 15% travel (approximately 6 weeks per year) may be required for team events and departmental collaborations.
  • For roles above Manager level: Increased travel may be required, with specific expectations discussed during the interview process.
  • Exceptions: Any exceptions to travel requirements will be considered through written accommodation.
