Software Engineer II, BI Reporting Platform

About the role

As part of the Empowering Insights & Reporting Pillar, the Business Intelligence Engineering group transforms complex data into actionable insights and impactful reporting. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to develop innovative applications that help marketers connect with consumers. You will build and maintain Java Spring Boot services powering client‑facing UI reports, charts, and dashboards, occasionally contribute frontend code using React and TypeScript, and grow from a guided engineer to an independent project lead.

What You’ll Accomplish

• Develop and maintain scalable backend systems for customer‑facing products, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to build applications that support multi‑channel communications for marketers.
• Partner with Product Management and Design to meet user needs without compromising quality or accruing tech debt.
• Improve code quality through code reviews, testing, and advocating for best practices.
• Identify and address technical debt to ensure the long‑term health of our codebase.
• Contribute to technical decisions and stay current with emerging technologies to enhance our products.

Your Expertise

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development, focusing on backend systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go, with a strong understanding of object‑oriented programming.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable, high‑performance applications.
• Proven experience working with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience collaborating with frontend developers and openness to occasional frontend tasks.
• Solid understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, writing tests, and continuous integration.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience being on‑call and responding quickly during an incident to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Nice to Haves

• Frontend development experience with frameworks like React or Angular.
• Proven experience working with data, including SQL, data analysis, and data engineering.
• Familiarity with AWS services, cloud infrastructure, and workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Temporal.
• Practical knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, including Docker and Kubernetes, for containerization and orchestration.

What We Use

• Infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS EKS.
• Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, Cloudflare, and Helm.
• Backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with DynamoDB, Airflow, Postgres, and Redis, hosted via AWS.
• Frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright.
• Automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas.

Salary

US‑based applicants: The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $126,480 – $180,000 annually, plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
