Job summary

The Washington Post is hiring a Software Engineer for our Ad Engineering team to build and maintain revenue-driving software across ad tech and content platforms.

You will work with product, BI, and advertising teams on AWS-backed applications, with a focus on LLM-powered tooling and partnerships with ad tech vendors. Collaboration with sales and operations is key, and you’ll own specific integrations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building highly performing customer-facing apps.
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript with strongly typed systems.
• Hands-on with AWS services ECS, EC2, RDS, S3 and Lambda.
• Exposure to Docker and CI/CD systems like Jenkins and CodePipeline.
• Familiarity with Prebid, Google Ad Manager, Prebid Server is a plus.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Experience with LLM-based text processing pipelines and ChatGPT-style APIs.
• Experience working with sales teams is a plus.
• Experience with text analysis and safety is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all stages of software development from prototyping to support.
• Build and deploy applications on AWS and maintain code quality.
• Collaborate with Product, Designers, and Advertising Ops to meet business needs.
• Develop tooling and best practices for LLM integrations across projects.
