Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Data Platform Automation (DPA) team. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable data-pipeline and automation services that power the company’s data ecosystem.

You will work with data engineers, platform partners, and internal customers to implement secure, reliable software, improve observability, and reduce data ingestion friction while adhering to coding standards and security practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software-development experience.
• Proficiency with Python/Java/Scala/C#/Go/TypeScript.
• Experience with APIs, data structures, testing, and debugging.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production software components for Data Platform Automation (DPA) platform services, data pipelines, and automation workflows.
• Implement well-structured, observable, and maintainable services with testing and version control.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analytics teams, and platform owners to clarify requirements and deliver improvements.
• Monitor services, troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and apply durable fixes.

We are hiring a motivated Software Engineer II who is eager to contribute hands-on to production software that improves the scalability, reliability, usability, and governance of our data ecosystem. This position will work closely with data engineers, platform partners, and internal customers to deliver secure, maintainable solutions that reduce friction from data ingestion through consumption.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, deploy, and support production software components for Data Platform Automation ( DPA ) platform services, data pipelines, and automation workflows.Implement well-structured, observable, and maintainable services and integrations using sound software-engineering practices, including code review, automated testing, version control, and documentation.Partner with data engineers, analytics teams, platform owners, and internal customers to clarify requirements, translate operational needs into technical designs, and deliver iterative improvements.Contribute to secure and reliable data-platform operations by monitoring services, troubleshooting incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing durable corrective actions.Improve developer and user experience through automation, reusable tooling, clear interfaces, and simplification of repetitive operational work.Participate in design reviews and technical discussions; communicate tradeoffs, risks, progress, and dependencies clearly to teammates and stakeholders.Follow Blue Origin engineering, security, data-governance, and quality standards while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.3+ years of professional software-development experience, including building, testing, and maintaining production software.Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, C#, Go, or TypeScript.Proficiency with Large Language Models (LLMs) for code generation, debugging, and development assistance .Experience with software-development fundamentals, including object-oriented or functional design, APIs, data structures, source control, automated testing, and debugging.Working knowledge of SQL and relational or distributed data systems.Ability to investigate ambiguous technical issues, decompose work into achievable steps, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners.Demonstrated commitment to high-quality, secure, and dependable engineering practices.Preferred QualificationsExperience developing data-platform, analytics, workflow-orchestration, or cloud-based services.Experience with Databricks, Apache Airflow, Dagster , dbt , Tableau, or comparable data-engineering and analytics platforms.Experience with cloud infrastructure, containerized applications, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and production observability.Experience designing resilient integrations with APIs, event-driven systems, or enterprise data sources.Familiarity with data quality, metadata, governance, access-control, or lineage practices.Experience working in an Agile product or platform team and partnering directly with internal customers.Strong written technical communication, including design notes, operational runbooks, and user-facing documentation.Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
