Job summary

The Trade Desk is seeking a Software Engineer II in San Jose to design and build internal web apps and services, covering front-end and back-end tasks with C#, TypeScript, React, and .NET. You’ll develop REST/GraphQL APIs, create data models, and ensure security and scalability.

You will implement CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and collaborate with product teams to deliver production‑ready features while advancing AI‑driven tooling with Python.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in CS or related field with 4+ years' experience, or Master's with 2+ years.
  • Two years of coding in modern languages and two years in full‑stack software engineering.
  • Two years of technical communication experience, including design docs and stakeholder updates.
  • One year of experience with an object‑oriented language; Transact‑SQL; and SDLC basics.
  • Experience with Boomi and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Design system architectures and components for internal web apps and services.

  • Develop and manage SQL database schemas; ensure security and governance.
  • Build and monitor CI/CD pipelines; automate build, test, and deployments.

Job Duties

Design system architectures and application components for internal web applications and services, including front-end and backend structures, API contracts, and database models; ensure designs align with scalability, security, and compliance requirements. Implement and maintain internal web applications and services using languages such as C#, TypeScript, and React, and frameworks such as .NET; develop REST/GraphQL APIs, database schemas (SQL), and service integrations following secure coding and data governance practices. Build and operate CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes for microservices and web applications, and monitor releases and resolve deployment issues. Develop and maintain automated tests, including unit, integration, and end‑to‑end test suites, ensure test coverage and reliability through continuous integration and participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards. Analyze operational and product data (e.g., usage, performance, error metrics) to assess the effectiveness of process improvements and automation initiatives, use insights to validate outcomes and inform future engineering priorities, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Collaborate directly with product and business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate ambiguous needs into technical designs, and deliver incremental, production‑ready features. Own the full lifecycle of features and small projects, including design, implementation, documentation, rollout, monitoring, and iterative improvement based on user feedback. Build AI‑assisted tools and automation in Python that use Large Language Models and Retrieval Augemented Generation to streamline routine tasks, improve employee productivity, and enhance internal tooling.

$226,138 - $227,000 /year

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have two (2) years of coding experience in modern languages. Must have two (2) years of experience with full‑stack software engineering. Must have two (2) years of technical communication experience, including writing design documents and system documentation, providing feedback to other engineers’ documents and code, and giving project updates to stakeholders or project leaders. Must have one (1) year of experience with: an object oriented programming language; writing Transact‑SQL; and software development lifecycle, including version control, code review, and deployment. Must have experience with: Boomi; and coding in Python.

At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $226,138 — $227,000 USD.
