Job summary

Parsec Education Inc is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Fresno, CA office. You will own scopes from design through production, building Go/Python/TypeScript solutions and ETL pipelines that power Parsec’s data-driven education products.

You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, review code, and apply AI-assisted debugging to improve quality and security. You’ll work in a mission-driven environment focused on modernizing K-12 education.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Go, Python or TypeScript preferred.
• Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and API integrations.
• Ability to read unfamiliar codebases, write tests, and deliver end-to-end features.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts (GCP) and containerized environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in K-12 education or mission-driven orgs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of well-scoped projects end-to-end, from design to deployment.
• Ensure agentic output is correct, secure, and aligned with team standards.
• Provide feedback on agent performance and failure modes through established channels.
• Develop and maintain ETL pipelines and data integrations with AI-assisted debugging.

As a Software Engineer Level II, you will take full ownership of scoped projects from design through deployment, using AI-assisted development tools to work efficiently while applying the critical judgment needed to ensure code that ships meets Parsec's standards for quality and security. You will build and maintain the technology that powers Parsec's products, developing deep familiarity with our systems and the confidence to navigate them independently. You will grow as an engineer through close collaboration with senior engineers, meaningful code review, and hands-on exposure to the full software development lifecycle in a mission-driven environment.

Description

We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of delivering software solutions that solve critical business needs. The candidate should be able to refine ambiguous problem spaces into concrete technical requirements and solutions. They should be able to take ownership of a project or feature and drive it from design to implementation.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of well-scoped projects end-to-end, directing agentic pipelines through technical design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Apply authoritative technical judgment to approve or reject agent-generated output.
• Relay structured feedback on agent performance and failure modes to Level III software engineers via a defined channel, so issues in agentic development are resolved at the source.
• Ensure source code written in Go, Python, or TypeScript is correct, secure, and adheres to team standards.
• Contribute to technical design discussions, using all available tools to explore trade-offs, draft documentation, and pressure-test approaches.
• Ensure final decisions and submitted code reflect your own reasoned analysis.
• Build, maintain, and debug ETL pipelines and data integrations, applying AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to identify root causes faster, and validating fixes with appropriate test coverage.
• Proactively identify risks, ambiguities, and systematic errors in agent output within your project scope. Surface them early and propose fixes, both to the immediate problem and to the agent's approach.
• Train and lead Level I software engineers in effective validation techniques for agentic output (what to check, common failure patterns, when to elevate).

Experience:

• 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least one example of owning a feature or project from design through production deployment.
• Working proficiency in one or more of Go, Python, or TypeScript, with demonstrated ability to learn additional languages or frameworks as needed.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts (preferably GCP) and comfort operating in containerized environments.
• Experience writing and debugging data pipelines or API integrations, with an understanding of data quality and failure modes.
• Ability to read and navigate an unfamiliar codebase, make targeted changes confidently, and write tests that cover meaningful cases.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to document your own work, ask precise questions, and flag blockers without prompting.
• Experience working in K-12 education or a mission-driven organization is preferred but not required.
