The Software Engineer II at MeritBey is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions that support research, analytics, and digital intelligence platforms. This role focuses on building reliable, high-performance systems while collaborating closely with product, data, and quality teams.

The ideal candidate is a strong hands‑on engineer who writes clean, maintainable code and contributes actively to system design and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend and/or frontend applications
• Translate product and business requirements into efficient technical solutions
• Write clean, testable, and well‑documented code following best practices
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data teams, and QA engineers
• Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisions
• Develop and consume APIs and integrate with databases and third‑party services
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance and reliability
• Ensure application security, data protection, and compliance standards
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 3–6 years of professional experience in software development
• Experience with modern frameworks and technologies (e.g., Spring Boot, Node.js, React, Angular, Django, or similar)
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented design
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and Agile development practices
• Understanding of testing frameworks and writing unit/integration tests
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
