Job summary

Lodestar is seeking a Software Engineer: Simulation to build the environment in which MITHRIL is developed, tested and proven. You will validate autonomy behaviours in high-fidelity simulation and collaborate closely with perception, prediction, decision, and missions teams.

The role emphasizes building sensor models, software‑in‑the‑loop and hardware‑in‑the‑loop benches, and scalable distributed simulation services with an extreme ownership culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required in CS, aerospace, robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
• Roles require progressively responsible experience in simulation, robotics, or games for Engineer I–III.
• Knowledge of real-time or simulated environments and CI workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend the mission simulation environment for Lodestar’s autonomy stack.
• Develop high-fidelity sensor and environment models in Unreal Engine.
• Create software‑in‑the‑loop and hardware‑in‑the‑loop test benches for flight software.
• Design distributed simulation services to run scenarios at scale.
• Own internal simulation tooling, telemetry, and regression frameworks.
