San Diego Blood Bank in San Diego, CA is seeking a Software Engineer I to contribute to our browser-based business applications across the full technology stack. You will work under the Lead Software Engineer, turning wireframes into responsive interfaces and building server-side APIs and data layers.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of software development experience or a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with a server-side language (Python, C#, Java, or Node.js).
• Familiarity with a modern front-end framework (React, Vue, or Angular).
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work in a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain features across the full stack under guidance.
• Translate wireframes into responsive, accessible interfaces.
• Maintain database schemas, queries, and data access code.
• Implement data validation, error handling, and security controls.
• Build integrations with internal systems and third-party services.
• Write clean, well-documented code following team standards and version control.
• Write and maintain automated tests for assigned features.
• Participate in code reviews and planning meetings.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects and verify fixes.
