Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 1 year of software development experience across web technologies, AIML, and cloud apps.
• 1 year of experience deploying and debugging apps on app/web servers and cloud platforms.
• 1 year of experience with version control, agile methodologies, SDLC, build tools, and issue tracking.
• Prefer experience with Code assist tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude).

JOB SUMMARY

Software Engineer I is a member of the Distributed Applications team responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and testing of web, mobile, Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning (AIML) and legacy applications. Incumbent uses technologies and application development tools to develop, test, implement, and maintain in-house applications and works closely with senior engineers, solution architect, and internal business partners to analyze business requirements, participate in design sessions and develop application features, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of software systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position incumbent is expected to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Working experience and understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) technologies – Python and/or Java, exploratorydata analysis, preprocessing data for ML model development.
• Experience in development and implementation of one or more Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, models using LLMs and ML services to create business applications.
• AI/ML model training, model validation, performance tuning, and deployment in production.

• Ability to work with CI/CD tools – Atlassian tools, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Maven, Git, SVN, Nexus etc. and IDEs – VS Code, Spring Tool Suite, Eclipse, IntelliJ
• Working knowledge of deploying apps to one or more App servers – Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat etc. and connecting to one or more data bases- SQL Server, DB2, mySQL etc.
• Understand Object-Oriented Design, Unified Modeling Language (UML) Notation, Relational and Non-Relational Standard Query Language (NoSQL) databases.
• Demonstrated experience in requirements analysis, software design, applications development, software testing and implementation in production.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Experience beyond the minimum work experience requirement can be substituted for college hours on a year-for-year basis.

Experience

Required:

• One (1) year application software development experience from a combination of web technologies, AIML technologies, cloud applications and software tools.
• One (1) year experience in application building, deployment, debugging and running applications on app/web servers as well as cloud platforms.
• One (1) year of experience in version control systems, agile methodologies, SDLC, build tools, and issue/bug tracking tools
• One (1) year experience requirement can be a combination of internships and projects outside of academics.

Preferred:

• Working experience with one or more Code assist tools like Claude, GitHub Copilot, Gemini etc.
• Knowledge of one or more Cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, GCP or equivalent.
• Experience of workflow automations using AI Agents and deployment.
• Data Transformation experience using ETL tools.
