Job summary

CTG seeks a Junior Software Engineer for a W-2 contract in Painted Post, NY. On-site role with typical M-F, 8–5 schedule. Compensation up to $40.25 per hour, with a BS degree required and 0–3 years of experience encouraged.

You will help build, test, and support software used in manufacturing environments. The position involves measurement and inspection systems, machine vision, image processing, data collection, ML, and reporting apps.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a CS/Engineering field required.
  • Up to three years of software development experience encouraged.
  • Experience with C#, C++, Java, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with SDLC, testing, debugging, and QA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, debug, and support manufacturing software.
  • Assist with measurement, inspection, and machine vision software.
  • Support data collection, analysis, ML, and reporting systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and QA activities.
  • Diagnose issues and implement solutions with the team.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.

Job description

CTG is seeking a Junior Software Engineer for a W-2 contract assignment with a long-standing client. This is an onsite position in Painted Post, NY, and candidates must be able to commute to the worksite.

Location: Painted Post, NY 100% on-site
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Compensation: up to$40.25 hourly depending on experience
Education: Bachelor's degree required

Position Overview

The Junior Software Engineer will help develop, test, troubleshoot, and support software used in manufacturing environments. The work may involve measurement and inspection systems, machine vision, image processing, data collection, machine learning, and reporting applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career software engineer interested in gaining hands-on experience with manufacturing technology and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, debug, and support manufacturing software applications
  • Assist with software used for measurement, inspection, machine vision, and image processing
  • Support data collection, analysis, machine learning, and reporting systems
  • Participate in software design, code reviews, testing, and quality‑assurance activities
  • Diagnose software issues and work with team members to implement solutions
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other technical teams
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Up to three years of software development experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Programming experience with one or more of the following: C#, Python, C++, Java, or MATLAB
  • Understanding of object‑oriented programming and software design principles
  • Familiarity with the software development life cycle, testing, debugging, and quality assurance
  • Experience with version‑control tools such as Git, GitLab, Subversion, or Visual SourceSafe
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue, React, Angular, or a similar front‑end framework
  • Familiarity with web services or microservices
  • Experience working with relational databases or performing data analysis
  • Exposure to sensors, cameras, motion systems, machine vision, image processing, or industrial control systems
  • Previous academic, internship, or project experience involving manufacturing software or automation
