Everlaw is seeking a Software Engineer to own complex features from idea to full release across the tech stack in our Oakland office with hybrid work options.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Developer Operations to deliver scalable, maintainable software and contribute to a culture of high code quality.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent coursework.
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures.
• Built and delivered software projects through coursework, personal projects, or internships.
• Strong strategic thinking and collaborative problem solving.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not provided.
• Familiar with Linux OS and environments.
• Hands-on experience with Git or similar VCS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in leadership roles or technical research programs.

Everlaw is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team. This is an amazing opportunity to launch your engineering career, make a real impact on our product and grow your skills with a team that's committed to your success.You’ll own complex product features from idea to full release, operating with significant autonomy across our entire tech stack to shape how legal teams uncover truth in vast amounts of data. Rather than being a cog in a massive pipeline or working under strict sprint cycles, you’ll build systems end-to-end alongside a dedicated product lead and designer, focusing on deep code quality and long-term maintainability.

This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Oakland, CA office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home on Tu/Fr.

What you'll do

• Build new product features end-to-end, taking projects from initial architectural design through implementation and deployment.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Developer Operations to design, build, and launch functionality seamlessly.
• Maintain and improve the reliability of our platform by debugging complex issues across a large-scale codebase.
• Contribute to system documentation and team knowledge-sharing to keep our codebase easy to navigate and maintain.
• Partner with your dedicated onboarding mentor to ramp up quickly on our platform architecture, development practices, and product domains.

About You

• You have a BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent coursework.
• You have a strong foundational knowledge of computer science concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
• You've built and delivered software projects through class assignments, personal projects, or internships.
• You bring strong strategic thinking and a collaborative approach to solving complex technical problems.
• You are authorized to work in the United States. Please note that at this time, Everlaw is not sponsoring U.S. employment visas for this role.
• You are familiar with Linux operating systems and environments.
• You have hands-on experience using Git or a similar version control system.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• You have held a campus leadership position or completed a technical research program.

The Team: Engineering

The Engineering team solves problems that are genuinely rare in their scope and scale. The base salary for this role is $140,000 per year. This role is also eligible for equity and the benefits below.
