Coleman Hill is a modern art studio and online gallery blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Based in Los Angeles, we produce limited-edition, museum-quality wall art, using intelligent systems to enhance how artwork is curated and delivered.

The Role

We’re looking for a Backend Software Engineer with Python and AWS experience to help us build infrastructure that powers our creative workflow.

You’ll design and implement event-driven, serverless services in Python and contribute to shaping our backend architecture as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications using AWS services (Lambda, S3, SQS, DynamoDB, Step Functions, SES, etc.)
• Design and consume RESTful APIs using Python
• Integrate third-party services, including AI/ML model APIs
• Write scalable, event-driven backend systems with asynchronous workflows
• Collaborate with creative and technical team members to translate goals into working infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience writing backend applications in Python
• Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Step Functions, SES/SNS
• Understanding of RESTful API design and cloud architecture
• Familiarity with serverless patterns and event-driven systems
• Comfort with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CDK, SAM, or Terraform) is a plus
• Bonus: experience with AI/LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Replicate)
