Job summary

Apple is seeking a Software Engineer for the Generative Data Platform in San Francisco. You’ll bridge engineering and partnerships, building features that enable teams to generate synthetic data for training and evaluation.

You’ll work with ML engineers, data scientists, and designers, integrating image/video models and maintaining GPU workloads to ensure cost-effective, reliable generation. You’ll own end-to-end features, learn on the job, and help teams understand model behavior and tradeoffs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in CS/CE or related field.
• Experience building and operating production software in Python.
• Experience debugging distributed systems and data pipelines in production.
• Experience deploying ML models on GPU infrastructure with memory sizing.
• Ability to explain ML concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical partners.
• Hands-on use of AI coding tools in day-to-day software development.

Responsibilities

• Partner with ML engineers, data scientists, and designers to turn needs into platform features.
• Support teams in building datasets on the platform and design model ablations.
• Explain ML concepts, costs, quality, speed, and feasibility to stakeholders.
• Assess domain gaps between synthetic and real data including metadata and labels.
• Work with feature teams to close gaps with platform capabilities.
• Help teams judge generated output and understand variability.
• Integrate new image/video generation models into production pipelines.
• Operate and debug GPU workloads to keep generation reliable and cost-effective.
