Job description

We are looking for Software Engineers to be part of the Functional Safety Group.

Remote Roles – must be currently living in the USA.

Pay Rate: Open

Duration: 12+ months with possibility of longer term extensions.

No C2C, H1B, 1099, TN Visa, F1 - CPT or OPT at this time.

Must be able to work directly on our W2 with no 3rd party involved.

Role:

Develop and ensure functional safety for software in power electronics components and Drive Unit systems. This role combines safety analysis, software architecture, and design collaboration to drive innovation in automotive systems.

What You’ll Do:

1. Conduct software safety analyses, including SW-FTA, SW-FMEA, Freedom from Interference (FFI), Common Cause/Cascading Failure Analysis (CCA/CFA), and Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA).
2. Develop software safety concepts, requirements, architecture, and design recommendations.
3. Create safety measures like plausibility checks, memory protection, program flow monitoring, and error protection.
4. Support Design Verification Plans (DVP) for software safety requirements, including fault injection testing.
5. Collaborate on traceability between safety requirements, test cases, and work-products using tools like JAMA or Doors.
6. Assist software test teams with troubleshooting and validation efforts.
7. Support defining coding guidelines, tool classification, and qualification for software development.

What You’ll Need:

Education: MS, BS, or PhD in Electrical, Embedded, or Software Engineering.

Experience:

1. 5+ years of embedded software development with a functional safety background in ISO 26262 (Parts 3, 4, 6, and 8).
2. Knowledge of communication protocols like CAN, SPI, and LIN.
3. Proficiency in C programming and/or model-based design using Simulink.
4. Familiarity with tools like Git, JIRA, and Jama, and debugging tools like PLS/UAD or CANalyzer.
5. Experience analyzing failure modes in embedded software and performing FTA, FMEA, FFI, and DFA.

Preferred:

1. Expertise with Medini, Plato, or similar tools.
2. Knowledge of E-Gas Level 1/2/3 concepts, FreeRTOS safety qualifications, or bare-metal development.
3. ISO 26262 Certification.
