Job summary

Watershed, the enterprise sustainability platform, is seeking a software engineer to ship great products from day one. You’ll work on frontend and backend, building in React, TypeScript, CSS and Node.js, collaborating with product, design, climate science and data teams to turn user needs into scalable software.

We value customer-obsessed, outcome-oriented builders who can own features end-to-end and help evolve a growing engineering team. Office 4 days per week; some remote roles noted.

Qualifications

The role

We are looking for a team member who is excited to do everything involved in shipping great products, including hands-on engineering, talking with customers, and mastering the climate domain. Your past experience should include a track record of building things that users love.

Watershed’s technical stack is the web frontend that our customers use, together with a backend of climate data, climate models, and plug-ins to various financial systems. We build new products in a customer-first way so you’ll be working quite a bit in React, TypeScript, CSS, Node.js, etc. There’s no need to be a prior expert in our stack — it’s more important that you’re good at picking up technologies quickly.

What you could work on:

• Build new interactive data visualizations to help climate leads understand their company's emissions.


• Build APIs to unify carbon data access for customers and other engineers.


• Build tools that help financial institutions measure and report emissions across their portfolio companies.


• Build tools for customers to effectively ingest and interpret business data.

Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.

What’s the interview process like?

Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience interview (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel.
