About The Role

SmithRx is seeking a Software Engineer to join our engineering team in building a modern PBM platform that will redefine how companies manage pharmacy benefits. You will work across the entire software development lifecycle, contributing to the design, build, testing, and maintenance of scalable solutions. This role requires versatility across full-stack technologies and ownership of projects that drive operational excellence and deliver superior customer experiences. This position is remote but limited to candidates residing in specified states.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to gather and clarify requirements for high-quality software development
• Create technical design documentation and provide scope and risk estimates for feature development
• Apply best practices in software design, coding standards, and testing methodologies
• Utilize client and server frameworks such as React, GraphQL, and GORM to extend platform capabilities
• Work with AWS services including Lambda and Fargate for job processing and batch tasks
• Ensure end-to-end testing and maintain thorough documentation of features
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Participate in quarterly roadmap planning and contribute to a culture of continuous learning through mentorship and code reviews
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience, preferably in web or mobile applications
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Go, Java, C, or C++
• Experience designing and implementing scalable systems, with solid understanding of design patterns, database schema design, and testing best practices
• Proficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and monitoring
• Familiarity with open source APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS infrastructure, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus
• Positive and flexible attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Experience in a high-growth startup environment is desirable
• Must reside in one of the following states: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin
