Job summary

Google's Platforms and Devices team is seeking a Software Engineer to design and implement firmware for embedded platforms. You will work on low-level systems, targeting resource-constrained hardware and collaborating across teams.

You will participate in design reviews, review colleagues’ code for quality and consistency, and contribute documentation while mentoring junior engineers. The role is based in San Jose, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in a low level systems programming language (C++).
• 2 years of experience with working with embedded operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Write product or system development code.
