Job summary

GCI is seeking a Software Engineer - Elasticsearch to design, develop, and maintain Elasticsearch clusters, supporting development teams in building scalable data platforms and data products. You will work hands-on across the ES ecosystem, with a focus on performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Elasticsearch experience, strong DevOps skills with Docker/Kubernetes, and proficiency in Java/Python. A US citizen with TS/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
• Minimum five (5) years of Elasticsearch experience
• Experience with large SQL or NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch, Greenplum, etc.
• Familiarity with ETL pipelines and interfacing with data stores and API endpoints
• Experience troubleshooting Elasticsearch clusters and query performance issues, including optimization
• DevOps experience building and deploying cloud and on-prem infrastructures with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
• Ability to deliver on multiple priorities with little supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with the following: Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, Jenkins, Java, Python

Responsibilities

• Support Elasticsearch and/or Elastic Cloud for Kubernetes (ECK) clusters
• Analyze, design and develop a processing platform using configuration management technologies
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
• Collaborate with developers, project managers and other engineers
• Troubleshoot complex problems and provide customer support for software systems and applications
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
• Work with the team to advance organizational capabilities

• We’relooking for someone with 3-5 years of experience and is familiar with the following software/tools:

  • Experience with modern programming languages like Java, Python, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
