Job summary

Amazon's EC2 Nitro Dataplane team is hiring in Seattle to shape the future of virtualized networking for EC2 VPCs. You will lead a small engineering team, mentor engineers, and drive architecture decisions while collaborating across product and management to define requirements and features.

You will work hands-on with systems design, coding reviews, and platform improvements, with responsibilities spanning Linux kernel, TCP/IP, scripting in Ruby/Python/Rust, and SDN-scale networking challenges

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in the design and analysis of algorithms and data structures.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP.
• Kernel or embedded development, particularly Linux kernel.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Ruby, Python or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of core computer science fundamentals, object-oriented design, and complexity analysis.
• Experience working with modern programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, Python or Perl.
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through its final launch.
• Meets or exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles and functional/technical depth requirements for this role.

The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Nitro Dataplane team owns the packet pipeline that runs beneath all of our customers’ EC2 VPC instances, adding features such as firewalls (security groups), routing, billing and monitoring. The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
