Job summary

Delta Solutions & Strategies is seeking a Mid-level Software Engineer to contribute to missile warning software development at Peterson Space Force Base. The role emphasizes legacy modernization, DoD-style agile practices, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements include a BS in CS, 5+ years experience, and US citizenship with active Secret clearance (TS preferred). Strong Java, C++, and C# skills are essential, along with Docker and Kubernetes familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Experience with Java, C#, or C++.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Development in a DoD environment preferred.
• Active US Secret Clearance required, must be able to obtain US Top Secret clearance.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Strong Java development experience including Java EE/J2EE, WebLogic/WebSphere/JBoss, EJB, JMS, JNDI, RMI, JDBC, and multithreaded applications.
• Experience refactoring legacy software applications
• Experience with REST, gRPC, SpringBoot, messaging
• Experience with IBM MQ/JMS and Oracle database integration
• Ability to analyze large legacy codebases, dependencies, and develop modernization recommendations.
• Container development experience including Docker, runtime configuration, logging, health checks, and Kubernetes deployment.
• Ability to own a technical deliverable through design, implementation, testing, documentation, and demonstration.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; team environment and independent work.

Responsibilities

• Developing and modernizing legacy missile warning software applications.
• Agile development in unclassified and classified environments with CI and code reviews.
• Implement scalable solutions using Java, C++, and C#, ensuring maintainability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate status and estimates.
• Develop technical documentation and diagrams.
• Engage with customers to gather requirements and propose solutions.
• Analyze requirements to translate to functional software.
• Contribute to the full SDLC including sustainment.
• Other tasks as directed.
