Job summary

Wintermeyer Ventures is building a data platform for the alternative investment industry. We seek an engineer to design and ship production systems for data ingestion, context, and lineage, with autonomy to take ambiguous problems to production.

You will own end-to-end projects, provision AWS environments, turn diverse data into typed records with lineage and permissions, and collaborate with a lean team using modern tools like Python, FastAPI, Terraform, and Docker.

Qualifications

• 1–8 years of software engineering with increasing responsibility.
• Experience at startup and at well-known tech companies.
• Hands-on data ingestion, transformation pipelines with schemas, lineage, permissions.
• CS degree or CS + mathematics background.
• Infra as code and cloud management, esp. Terraform and AWS.
• Familiar with Python, FastAPI, Temporal, dbt, React, Docker.

About the Role

Join a small engineering team building a data platform for the alternative investment industry. You will develop foundational systems for data ingestion, structured context, permissions, and lineage, with significant autonomy to take work from an ambiguous problem to production.

What You'll Do

• Design and ship production systems for data ingestion, structured context, and the governed data foundation used by applications.
• Build infrastructure to provision and manage customer AWS environments, translating diverse data formats into typed, related records with lineage and permissions.
• Own projects end-to-end, from initial requirements through reliable systems that support daily business workflows.
• Use LLMs and AI-assisted development tools as part of your engineering workflow.
• Contribute to technical direction and architecture decisions while collaborating with a lean engineering team.

What We're Looking For

• 1 to 8 years of software engineering experience, with evidence of increasing responsibility or scope.
• Experience at an early-stage, venture-backed startup and at a well-regarded technology company.
• Hands-on experience designing and shipping data ingestion and transformation pipelines, including data schemas, lineage, and permissions.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, supported by a CS degree or a combined computer science and mathematics background.
• Practical experience with infrastructure as code and cloud infrastructure management, especially Terraform and AWS.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Python, FastAPI, Temporal, dbt, React, and Docker is relevant.
• Interest in fintech, data platforms, or alternative investments is valuable.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $165,000 to $290,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
