Job summary

Chainlink Labs is seeking a Software Engineer for the Data Feeds team. You will design and build highly scalable, secure software that powers smart contracts in a decentralized infrastructure.

You’ll work with experienced engineers, cryptography experts, and security specialists to advance distributed systems research and practical deployments. You’ll own end-to-end delivery of data products, collaborate with researchers, and focus on trust-minimized off-chain computation and data aggregation.

Qualifications

• 4-6+ years of professional software engineering experience in a product-driven environment.
• Experience in blockchain and Web3 technologies.
• Experience developing on-chain smart contracts with meaningful value on-chain.
• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals and systems design concepts.
• Experience owning multi-month projects, including communication with stakeholders and managing risk.
• Experience building distributed, low-latency systems.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, mathematics or related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new features within the Data Product space, including trust-minimized off-chain computation and data aggregation across blockchain environments.
• Own end-to-end delivery of new and existing data products that power the largest market share of DeFi by TVS.
• Learn about underlying blockchain technology (Solana, Avalanche, Polygon, Ethereum, and more).
• Build core products with Smart Contracts using Solidity, Move, and Rust.
• Collaborate with the research team to build cutting-edge products.
• Think creatively about attack vectors, potential failures, and disaster scenarios, and model them in reproducible test environments.
• Manage the architectural vision for new subsystems in the core Chainlink node.
• Implement resilient distributed systems to achieve extremely high reliability in diverse blockchain environments.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Data Feeds team, you’ll collaborate with an experienced technical team of other engineers, distributed systems computing experts, and security experts, who are all committed to building a world-changing decentralized infrastructure. You’ll develop and build highly scalable, secure, and reliable software that will change the way smart contracts function at a fundamental level, with a focus on Data Feeds. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and master the latest research concerning distributed systems, cryptography, blockchains, game theory, consensus algorithms, and decentralized applications. You will be given a high level of autonomy/ownership over your projects, the opportunity to expand your scope of knowledge, and the chance to help build the decentralized infrastructure of the future.

Your Impact

• Designing and implementing new features within the Data Product space, such as trust-minimized off-chain computation & the aggregation of external data in various blockchain environments, and many more problems

• Design and own the end to end delivery of new and existing data products that power the largest market share of Defi by total value secured (TVS)

• Learn more about the underlying technology in the blockchain ecosystem (Solana, Avalanche, Polygon, Ethereum, and more).

• Build our core products with Smart Contracts using Solidity, Move, and Rust.

• Partner with the research team to build cutting-edge products

• Think creatively about attack vectors, possible failures, and disaster scenarios, modeling them in reproducible test environments, and developing fixes

• Managing the architectural vision for new subsystems in the core Chainlink node

• Implementing resilient distributed systems to achieve extremely high reliability in a variety of blockchain environments

Requirements

• At least 4-6+ years of professional software engineering experience working in a collaborative product-driven environment

• Experience in blockchain and other Web 3.0 technologies

• Experience developing smart contracts that secured meaningful value on-chain

• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals and systems design concepts

• Experience owning multi month long projects, including communication of progress, dependencies, and risk mitigation directly with stakeholders and partners

• Experience building distributed systems and low-latency systems

• B.S. or higher in computer science, software engineering, mathematics or related technical field

Desired

• Experience in Golang or any other strongly-typed programming language

• Experience working with a globally distributed team

• Experience working in or with market data
