XRTech Team

The XRTech team explores, develops, and delivers cutting-edge technologies that form the foundation of current and future Reality Labs products. Our focus includes mixed reality, human interaction, natural input, and more—taking new technologies from early concepts to product-level implementation while iterating, prototyping, and realizing their human value and new experiences.

3D Mapping Team

The 3D mapping team develops core technologies for 3D mapping and contextual understanding for metaverse digital twins. We build large-scale persistent maps for AR and VR products at Meta, enabling rich and consistent experiences through precise environmental geometric representations. Our work is centered around:

1. Cloud mapping pipeline and platform development for various use cases
2. Core mapping computer vision algorithm development, including geometry-based and machine learning-based Structure-from-Motion, VIO & SLAM
3. Large-scale mapping and map management

Software Engineer, Computer Vision - XR World AI Responsibilities

• Lead development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms for 3D mapping.
• Develop state-of-the-art software solutions for high-quality 3D maps.
• Collaborate with partner teams on sensor calibration, map quality assessment, and user experience enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in computer vision and machine learning, specifically in 3D mapping.
• Proficiency with C++ and/or Python, including modern features.
• Understanding of 3D geometry, linear algebra, numerical optimization, statistics, and probability.
• Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in advanced geometric computer vision, computational imaging, large-scale numerical optimization, state estimation, and sensor fusion.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Broad understanding of the full machine vision pipeline from sensors to high-level algorithms.

Compensation and Benefits
