Job summary

Truist is seeking a skilled Cloud/DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure in a regulatory banking environment. You will automate platforms with IaC, build robust CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate across software, security, and operations teams to deliver reliable cloud solutions.

The role emphasizes observability, incident prevention, and continuous improvement, including migration, modernization, and disaster recovery initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Independently designs, deploys, and maintains cloud infrastructure and platform services that support business and technology objectives.
  • Develops and implements infrastructure automation solutions using IaC and orchestration tools.
  • Builds, supports, and enhances CI/CD pipelines to enable automated software delivery and operational excellence.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to design secure, scalable cloud solutions.
  • Monitors platform performance, availability, and health through observability and performance management.
  • Troubleshoots infrastructure and production issues with root-cause analysis and preventive measures.
  • Implements cloud security practices and compliance controls.
  • Participates in cloud migration, platform modernization, resiliency, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Develops technical documentation and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Mentors engineers in cloud technologies, automation, and DevOps best practices.
  • Evaluates emerging cloud technologies to drive platform innovation.

Independently designs, develops, tests, and maintains complex software solutions that meet business and user needs. Emphasizes delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality applications by applying advanced best practices in coding, architecture, and software lifecycle management, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Independently designs, deploys, and maintains cloud infrastructure and platform services that support business and technology objectives.
  • Develops and implements infrastructure automation solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and orchestration tools to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Builds, supports, and enhances CI/CD pipelines to enable automated software delivery, infrastructure deployment, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborates with software engineering, architecture, security, and operations teams to design and implement secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions.
  • Monitors platform performance, availability, and operational health through observability, logging, alerting, and performance management practices.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex infrastructure, application, and production issues by performing root-cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
  • Implements cloud security best practices, vulnerability remediation activities, and compliance controls to maintain a secure technology environment.
  • Participates actively in cloud migration, platform modernization, resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational readiness initiatives.
  • Develops technical documentation, operational procedures, and reusable engineering patterns to support platform consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Mentors and supports engineers in cloud technologies, automation practices, DevOps methodologies, and engineering best practices.
  • Evaluates emerging cloud technologies, tools, and engineering practices to drive continuous improvement and platform innovation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native solutions on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or comparable public/private cloud environments. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and configuration management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable software delivery platforms.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, observability, logging, and synthetic monitoring solutions using tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of cloud security, networking, identity management, secrets management, and resiliency concepts.
  • Cloud platform certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), Terraform Associate, or equivalent industry certifications.
  • Previous experience in the banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries. Experience working in Agile development environments.
