Job summary

Truist in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced Software Engineer to deliver technically complex Android-based solutions, integrate systems, and collaborate with product owners to define the end goal.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain apps using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern architectures, while ensuring quality through automated tests and production monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field plus 3 years of software engineering or IT consulting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Android UI components and mobile development tools.
  • Experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Android Studio workflows.
  • Experience applying MVC, MVI, MVVM design patterns and REST APIs.
  • Ability to work across cross-functional streams and guide less experienced teammates.

  • Deliver technically complex solutions. Perform system integration support for all project work.
  • Consult and partner with the business product owners to understand the end goal and offer solutions and recommendations during the design.
  • Develop customized coding, software integration, perform analysis, configure solutions, using tools specific to the project or the area.
  • Lead and participate in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in adherence to company standards, including robust unit testing and support for subsequent release testing.
  • Build non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for highly complex applications in production.
  • Build in and maintain security controls and monitoring in support of company standards.
  • Typically lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex initiatives.
  • Solve complex technical and operational problems. Act as a resource for teammates with less experience
  • May oversee the work of a small team.
  • In an Agile environment: Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and engage with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories. Responsible for design, developing, and maintaining automated unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. Responsible for providing automated monitoring capabilities, providing warranty support, and providing knowledge transfer to production support. Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.
Requirements
  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or IT consulting positions performing/utilizing the following:
    • Handling/leading data conversions from one processor to another processor.
    • In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
    • Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.
    • Planning and managing projects and solving complex problems by applying best practices. Providing direction and mentoring less experienced teammates.
    • Working with Business and Ops to refine requirements and design solutions that best fit Banking systems
    • Solid knowledge of Android UI components designs and development (Kotlin, jetpack compose, and build tools)
    • Working with cross work streams to build applications that are accessible and responsive.
    • Working on Feasibility study reports to determine practicality, strength and weaknesses of proposed projects, challenges that could arise in coming phases of projects, and identifying potential solutions resulting from projects.
    • Utilizing experience with below technologies to solve complex business requirements: Kotlin; Android Studio; Emulator; Jetpack Components; Object Oriented Programming; Architecture and Design Patterns (MVC, MVI and MVVM); Networking libraries; Custom, Recycler and Web Views; Firebase Framework; REST APIs; JSON and XML; Java; Postman; SOAPUI; GIT and Gitlab; SpringBoot; and understanding of AWS cloud services.
  • In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field plus 1 year of experience in software engineering or IT consulting positions performing/utilizing the aforementioned
  • Position may be eligible to work hybrid/remotely but is based out of and reports to Truist offices in Charlotte, NC. Must be available to travel to Charlotte, NC regularly for meetings and reviews with manager and project teams within 24-hours’ notice.
