Job description

Software Engineer - Client Testing and Observability

Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, design and build better products — from start to finish. Whether it’s consolidating tools, simplifying workflows, or collaborating across teams and time zones, Figma makes the design process faster, more efficient, and fun while keeping everyone on the same page. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!

This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:
  • Enable Figma engineers to ship high quality and performant code by building testing and benchmarking frameworks that catch issues before they reach our users.
  • Develop observability tooling to detect and root cause issues in production quickly.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across the company to define goals around automated testing, performance benchmarking (CPU, memory, FPS), and operational health.
  • Provide engineering teams visibility into their quality and performance to maintain/improve Figma's high bar for product excellence.
  • Be a part of a unique engineering culture that fosters learning, belonging, and impact.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
  • At least 2+ years experience building testing and observability frameworks for web frontend, that are used by large engineering teams.
  • Experience working on client-side frontend technologies like React, and testing frameworks like Jasmine/Jest/Playwright, observability systems for error reporting, real-time telemetry and analytics logging, working with build tools like Bazel and CI/CD frameworks, working with cloud services like AWS, code coverage and performance/runtime profiling tools.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating regularly and effectively with designers, PMs, engineers, and stakeholders beyond your team (or org) to plan features and break down high level goals into tasks and timelines.
  • Demonstrated unwavering commitment for improving product quality by building tools and frameworks for engineers.
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
  • 2+ years of experience operating in a hands-on technical lead capacity, ideally with multi-team purview.
  • Have a track record for being able to diagnose problems within complex systems.
  • A passion for and experience with driving foundational initiatives that improve product quality and internal velocity.

At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
