Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain applications and embedded software for advanced analytical instrumentation systems, supporting instrument control, data analysis, and scientific applications.

You will collaborate with engineering, scientific, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality software solutions across the lifecycle and contribute to both new product development and sustaining existing products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, and object-oriented design.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Experience developing multi-threaded applications and debugging.
• Understanding of software security principles and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with communication protocols and embedded software architectures.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Summary

The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain applications and embedded software for advanced analytical instrumentation systems. This role contributes across the software development lifecycle, developing solutions that support instrument control, data analysis, user interfaces, and scientific applications.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and embedded systems throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Develop software solutions for instrument control, user interfaces, data acquisition, and analytical processing.
• Implement innovative user interfaces, data analysis capabilities, and instrument troubleshooting and debugging
• Support new product development and sustain existing products through enhancements, defect resolution, and performance improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, scientific, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Plan, track, and communicate project activities and development schedules.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, and object-oriented software design.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Experience developing multi-threaded applications and performing software debugging.
• Understanding of software security principles and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with communication protocols and embedded software architectures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Linux-based development environments, including Yocto.
• Experience with Blazor, GraphQL, WebSockets, and modern web application development.
• Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
• Experience with embedded systems development.
• Experience developing software for scientific instrumentation, instrumentation control, or mass spectrometry systems.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems and hardware integration.
