Job summary

ERock is seeking a software engineer to build and maintain backend services in C#/.NET on Azure, handling time-series telemetry from edge devices and cloud ingestion. You will work on resilient data pipelines amid intermittent connectivity and provide maintainable dashboards for operations and manufacturing.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in software engineering, strong OO design, Azure experience, and comfort with Linux, REST, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Proficiency with C#/.NET and OO design.
Experience building cloud applications; Azure strongly preferred.
REST APIs and relational databases; familiarity with time-series data stores.
Linux experience; logs and troubleshooting on remote machines.
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.
Ability to investigate issues using logs, metrics, and traces, and explain findings clearly.
Willingness to learn fast and use AI tools to move faster.
Based in the Greater Houston area with hybrid work from our Houston office.
Mobility to work in standard office setting and on factory floor.

Responsibilities

Build and evolve C#/.NET back-end services on Azure that carry telemetry from edge devices through cloud ingestion into APIs, stores, and tools.
Ensure ingestion paths handle intermittent connectivity, devices going offline, and late/duplicate/out-of-order messages.
Shape how we capture, query, and retain large-scale time-series telemetry while keeping solutions simple.
Diagnose end-to-end issues using logs, metrics, and traces and explain findings clearly.
Improve and maintain internal applications, factory-floor stations, and dashboards used by operations and manufacturing teams.
Write automated tests and ship via CI/CD pipelines; keep services observable and maintainable in production.
Contribute to design and system documentation reviewed by security teams.
Collaborate with software, hardware, data science, and engineering teams to turn signals into insights.

Key Responsibilities

Build and evolve C#/.NET back-end services on Azure that carry telemetry from edge devices at customer sites through cloud ingestion into the APIs, stores, and tools our teams use daily.
Work on ingestion and processing paths that hold up against the realities of field hardware: intermittent connectivity, devices that go dark and come back, and messages that arrive late, duplicated, or out of order.
Help shape how we capture, organize, query, and retain large‑scale time‑series telemetry, while keeping solutions as simple as the problem allows.
Diagnose issues end‑to‑end, from a message on a device through cloud ingestion to API and storage, using logs, metrics, and traces, and explain findings clearly.
Improve and maintain the internal applications, factory‑floor stations, and dashboards that operations, manufacturing, and field teams depend on.
Write automated tests and ship through CI/CD pipelines, and keep your services observable and supportable in production.
Contribute to the design and system documentation that our utility customers' security teams review.
Partner with software, hardware, data science, and engineering teams to turn complex signals into actionable insights.

Requirements

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency with C#/.NET and object‑oriented design.
Experience building cloud applications; Azure strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of REST APIs and relational databases, plus comfort with analytics, columnar, or time‑series data stores.
Working comfort on Linux, including reading logs and troubleshooting on a remote machine.
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.
Ability to investigate issues using logs, metrics, and traces, and to explain findings clearly.
Willingness to learn fast and to use AI tools to move faster.
Based in the Greater Houston area and able to work a hybrid schedule from our Houston office, including time on the factory floor alongside hardware and manufacturing teams.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; requires stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; must be able to lift and carry files weighing up to 20 pounds, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
