Job summary

EDB is seeking a highly skilled PGD Developer to design, implement, and maintain the EDB Postgres Distributed product. You will contribute to architecture, develop new PGD capabilities, and ensure high availability for enterprise workloads.

You will work on a globally distributed team, reviewing code, testing thoroughly, and documenting features while advancing performance and reliability of distributed PostgreSQL across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a software engineering position.
• Strong proficiency in C programming
• Experience with PostgreSQL internals (storage engine, WAL, replication, catalog system, or extension development)
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts: replication topologies, consensus, conflict resolution, eventual consistency, and failure modes
• Experience working on multi-version/multi-branch codebases with active backporting workflows
• Familiarity with build systems and CI/CD practices
• Comfort working with Git on a large, long-lived codebase with complex branching
• Strong debugging and performance analysis skills

We are seeking a highly skilled PGD Developer to design, implement, and maintain the EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) product, a multi-master distributed PostgreSQL solution that provides high availability, geographic distribution, and active-active replication for enterprise workloads. As a member of the team, you will work directly on PGD's architecture design, development, testing, and documentation of new and existing capabilities with EDB's quality standards.

• Experience with logical replication, logical decoding, or custom replication solutions
• Knowledge of distributed consensus algorithms (Raft)
• Familiarity with the PostgreSQL extension API and hook system
• Experience with high availability architectures and failover mechanisms
• Experience with Python and Rust
• Experience with the major Cloud Providers: AWS, Azure, GCP
• Experience with Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes
