Overview
The Software Engineer I provides design and specifications for information systems solutions to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements. This role involves evaluating client requirements and processes, developing application environments, and supporting day‑to‑day operations as well as special projects. Work may span multiple development platforms, software, hardware, technologies, and tools.
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete basic to complex systems analysis, design, and development tasks
- Serve as an individual contributor on complex projects while assisting clients in resolving daily issues
- Determine feasible solutions and make recommendations for implementation
- Direct and coordinate tasks for less experienced resources on small to medium scope efforts or specific phases of larger projects
- Participate in systems and integrated testing efforts, preparing test data and executing detailed test plans
- Evaluate and understand interrelationships among programs and interfacing applications
- Develop clear technical and functional specifications and review documentation from other staff
- Prepare charts, diagrams, and other tools to assist with analysis and problem‑solving
- Create assessments and task plans with estimated timelines and resource needs
- Recommend new technology, policies, or processes to improve organizational efficiency
- Provide consultation to clients, technical teams, and departments regarding application capabilities and operational procedures
- Adhere to development standards, procedures, and regulatory policies
- Maintain strong working knowledge of supported applications and environments
- Promote diversity and support the company brand
- Complete other related duties as assigned, including participating in due diligence, vendor analysis, and cost/benefit studies
Scope Of Responsibilities
- Works under the supervision of a Technology Team Lead, receiving general guidance from senior team members
- Competent to work independently on most high‑level systems analysis and technical development phases
- May lead project activities for small to medium scope initiatives and provide guidance or training to junior staff
- Interacts with other technology personnel, clients, and occasionally vendors
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree and 4+ years of systems analysis/application development experience; OR a combined minimum of 6 years higher education/work experience including at least 4 years of systems analysis/application development
- Familiarity with application development software and troubleshooting hardware/software issues
- Proficiency in personal computing, project management tools, word processing, and spreadsheets
- Ability to handle multiple moderately complex to complex projects
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with prior experience presenting to target audiences
- Detail‑oriented with strong lateral thinking skills
- Experience in coordinating between applications and business units
- Proven ability to recommend and implement system solutions and drive project milestones
- Experience in Salesforce Platform, Software Engineering, and working within Scrum/Agile environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of the bank’s application framework
- Subject matter expertise in business processes related to supported applications
- Knowledge of interfacing and integrated applications
- Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently
- Proven multitasking ability across moderately complex to complex projects
- Action‑oriented and proactive approach to problem‑solving
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required
Benefits
The expected base pay range for this position is $38.05 – $63.43 per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market conditions, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to pay, a competitive benefits package is also offered.
