Job summary

Aerotech designs, implements, and maintains the front-end features of its motion control software using C#/.NET. You will develop desktop applications and libraries used to configure, control, and monitor Aerotech products.

You will collaborate with engineers to debug issues, implement new features, and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle. Strong UI/UX focus and familiarity with Visual Studio and OO concepts are expected.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar major from an accredited college or university.
  • Zero to five years of relevant work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of an object-oriented programming language (e.g., C#, Java).
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. OPT/CPT visa holders not eligible.
  • Experience or working knowledge in UI design/web development; WPF, XAML, MVVM; Prism or similar UI frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements user interfaces with a focus on user experience.
  • Interacts with engineers to debug time-critical problems and participate in the software development life cycle.

  • Conducts tests to verify new features and proper operation of motion control software.
  • Provides and reviews technical documentation.

Position Summary

Designs, implements, and maintains the applications and front-end features/functionality of Aerotech’s motion control software using C#/.NET and related technologies.

Essential Functions
  • Uses various programming languages to design, develop, and maintain desktop software applications and libraries that our customers and employees use to configure, control, and monitor Aerotech’s motion control products.
  • Designs and implements user interfaces, with a focus on user experience.
  • Designs code that interacts with lower levels of the software stack.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains advanced manufacturing support applications.
  • Interacts with engineers in a team environment to debug complex, time-critical problems, implement new features, and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle.
  • Maintains and utilizes knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio, source control, and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Uses critical thinking skills to debug problems with our products and develop solutions to these problems.
  • Conducts tests to verify the implementation of new features and the proper operation of our motion control products.
  • Provides and reviews technical documentation.
  • Quickly adapts to different technologies and project/product contexts.
  • Thrives in a team environment and works well independently.
  • Ensures our software meets or exceeds Aerotech’s quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar major from an accredited college or university
  • Zero to five years of relevant work experience
  • Thorough knowledge of an object-oriented (e.g., C#, Java) programming language
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.
  • Experience or working knowledge in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
    • UI design or web development
    • WPF, XAML, and MVVM
    • Prism or other UI/application frameworks

As part of our engineer development program, your position will include work experiences (via short-term rotations) in related engineering roles (typically in different departments). Any such rotations will be arranged with your supervisor - aligning your interests with business needs as available.
