Position Overview

DecisiveInstincts is hiring a Senior Software Engineer. This role is remote; however, candidates must be able to travel to Clarksburg, WV. A Secret Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

1. Develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical enterprise applications throughout the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support.
2. Design and implement cloud-based applications using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, and DynamoDB, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
3. Build and optimize front-end applications delivering responsive and user-friendly interfaces tailored to business needs.
4. Manage version control, development workflows, and CI/CD pipelines using Atlassian tools like Bitbucket and Jira for reliable deployments.
5. Apply Agile development principles within the SAFe framework, engaging in iterative cycles, backlog prioritization, and adaptive planning.
6. Conduct rigorous testing and automated deployment processes to ensure quality, reliability, and security compliance.
7. Perform ongoing application maintenance, including monitoring, incident response, patches, and security updates.
8. Develop and maintain databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval for large-scale applications.
9. Design, customize, and optimize software solutions to enhance operational efficiency, including third-party integrations and automation.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, participate in architecture reviews, and deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives.
11. Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe.
12. Provide team-specific training as needed.

Requirements

1. Secret Clearance.
2. At least 8 years of experience recommended; certifications or past work may substitute for experience.
3. Minimum of 5 years in API development and standardization (RESTful, SOAP, GraphQL), with focus on security protocols (OAuth, JWT, OpenID Connect).
4. Strong background in enterprise software development using Java, Python, or Golang, with 8+ years in object-oriented programming and cloud-native design.
5. Experience with API management tools like AWS API Gateway.
6. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive API governance.
7. Familiarity with XML, XSD, NIEM standards for data exchange.
8. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Atlassian tools for version control and deployment automation.
9. Skills in cloud-based application development leveraging AWS services.
