Overview

Speechify’s text-to-speech products turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio to help users read faster, read more, and remember more. We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to support the growing Android app user base and work on exciting projects to push the product forward. This is a key role for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering great user experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Own major features and collaborate with design to deliver high-quality features inside the app
• Shape the future of our Android team
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Participate in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering)
• Review pull requests and support teammates
• Handle critical issues and unexpected challenges
• Own feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Familiarity with Android components
• Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app
• Product design intuition and user empathy
• Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX
• Understanding of testing and test strategy
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec
• Strong Kotlin experience with Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit
• User-centered problem solving and openness to feedback

Bonus

• Experience contributing to open source Android projects
• Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS

The United States Based Salary range for this role is: 140,000-200,000 USD/Year + Bonus + Stock depending on experience
