Job summary

Genius AI is hiring engineers to architect and ship AI-powered features enabling agentic tools for appointment-based businesses. You will work on scalable infrastructure and production systems handling billions in payments for 120,000+ businesses.

The role requires building with AI as the default, driving reliability and performance across the stack. You will collaborate across teams, own projects end-to-end, and contribute to a hybrid NYC-based work model with in-office days and strong

About the Role

Genius AI is building an agentic workforce: AI systems that act on behalf of appointment-based business owners, not just assist them. The engineers who join now will be the ones who architect it. We’re hiring across two paths: product engineers who work at the intersection of AI capabilities and customer problems, shipping the features that put agentic tools directly in front of the businesses we serve; and platform engineers who build the scalable, reliable infrastructure that makes those AI products possible in the first place. Whichever path you’re on, the expectation is the same: you build with AI as the default layer underneath how you work, not a tool you reach for occasionally.

You must be commutable to our NYC headquarters and will operate in a hybrid environment. We default to being in-office 3–4 days per week with required attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and ship AI‑powered features that change how service businesses operate: not wrappers around existing tools, but net‑new capabilities that weren’t possible before
• Build and maintain large‑scale systems that process billions in payments and serve 120,000+ businesses, with reliability and performance as non‑negotiables
• Use AI to architect, debug, write, and review code, and hold a higher bar for your own output because of it
• Own your work end to end: from technical design through production, with full accountability for what you ship and how it performs
• Build the platform infrastructure that lets product teams move faster: scalable, extensible systems that remove friction rather than create it
• Challenge how we build: when you see a faster path or a better architecture, you’re expected to make the case and drive it

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of production systems, not just contributions to a team that owned them
• You use AI to architect, debug, write, and review code, and you’ve shipped AI‑powered features or systems, not just used AI‑assisted editors
• Move fast and make decisions: you don’t wait for a fully scoped ticket to start thinking, you’d rather ship something real and iterate than spend weeks perfecting a plan
• Strong analytical instincts for efficiency, scalability, and system reliability, you think about what breaks at scale before it breaks in production
• Entrepreneurial ownership mindset, you treat the problems you’re assigned as yours to solve, not tasks to complete
• Collaborative by default, you make the engineers around you better, not just the code you personally write

The starting base salary for this role in New York is between $150,000‑$230,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in Genius AI’s equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within our total rewards offering.
