You'll collaborate closely with a cutting-edge AI Research team, and your work will help raise the ceiling of what's possible for designers and lower the floor of who can design. We are seeking an accomplished and experienced AI Product Engineer who has built generative AI products to join our team and lead our AI efforts from inception to implementation. This is a full-time role that can be undertaken from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:

1. Lead the development of early-phase AI systems to enhance user experience and develop systems to measure and improve AI performance and relevance.
2. Direct the future of AI at Figma in collaboration with cross-functional teams of innovative software engineers, product managers, and data scientists.
3. Break down open-ended AI problems into engineering strategies utilizing machine learning, data analysis, and experimental design.
4. Provide mentorship and promote best practices in data and AI while cultivating a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
5. Contribute to the growth of the team by improving the hiring process and recruiting outstanding AI talent.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

1. 5+ years of experience, with 1 or more years of developing generative AI products.
2. Comfort in prototyping and exploring new opportunities that led to successful projects.
3. Proven experience implementing the full lifecycle of an early-phase AI development, from ideation to deployment and maintenance.
4. Experience in developing deep product and business knowledge to connect modeling and analysis tasks with business value.
5. A growth mindset and experience investing in the learning, development, and impact of your peers, e.g., mentoring or aligning senior engineers across organizations.

While it's not required, it's a plus if you also have:

1. Expertise in AI indexing, retrieval systems, personalization, and/or natural language processing.
2. Proven track record of planning a multi-year roadmap where short-term projects align with long-term vision.
3. A relevant advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or a related field.

Pay Transparency Disclosure

If based in Figma's San Francisco or New York hub offices, this role has an annual base salary range of $149,000—$350,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications, skills, experience, impact, and location. For remote roles, the pay range is localized according to the employee's work location, between 80% and 100% of the listed range. Please discuss your location with your recruiter.
