Job summary

Nominal is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Hardware Intelligence team. This is a highly ambiguous, zero-to-one role where you’ll build the infrastructure, data systems, and AI capabilities powering the next generation of engineering tools.

You’ll work with customers and product leaders to discover what should exist, then turn ideas into working software, making fast bets and rapid prototypes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building AI or ML products in production.
• Experience with large datasets, time series, observability, data infrastructure, or ML systems.
• Background in ML, data science, applied AI, or related fields.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; scalable backend/distributed systems.
• Experience taking products from zero-to-one in startup or entrepreneurial teams.
• Strong product instincts and curiosity about customer problems.

Responsibilities

• Build the Hardware Intelligence systems, including agent infra, evaluation pipelines, and data tooling.
• Design AI-powered workflows to investigate anomalies and root causes.
• Work with large-scale time series, telemetry, logs, and other engineering data.
• Prototype new approaches quickly, test with customers, and iterate.
• Collaborate with engineers and product leaders to decide where to invest next.
• Help establish engineering patterns, infrastructure, and best practices as scale grows.
• Engage with customers to translate workflows into product capabilities.
