Job summary

Nominal is seeking an experienced software engineer to join our Hardware Intelligence team. This is a highly ambiguous, zero-to-one role where you’ll build the infrastructure, data systems, and AI capabilities that power the next generation of intelligent engineering tools.

You’ll work with customers and product leaders to discover what should exist, prototype rapidly, and turn uncertainty into working software.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping AI/ML products to production.
• Experience with large datasets, time series, observability, data infra, or ML systems.
• Background in ML, data science, or applied AI.
• Strong backend or distributed systems design fundamentals.
• Experience taking products from zero to one in startup or entrepreneurial contexts.
• Strong product instincts and curiosity about customer problems.

Responsibilities

• Build hardware intelligence systems: agent infra, eval pipelines, retrieval systems.
• Design and ship AI-powered workflows for anomalies and root cause analysis.
• Work across time series, telemetry, logs to build production systems.
• Prototype quickly, test with customers, iterate based on feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers and product leaders to determine future investments.
• Establish engineering patterns, infra, and best practices as Hardware Intelligence scales.
• Engage directly with customers to translate workflows into product capabilities.
