Job summary

Boeing is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Maryland Heights, MO team, delivering next-generation Mission Planning software used by the Department of Defense. You will work in a Scrum team within a SAFe framework, focusing on microservices with JavaScript/React front-end and C# back-end services.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in CS/Engineering/Data Science or related field, 5+ years of software development, U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance is essential.
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, C#, C++, and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Azure DevOps; version control with Git.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain weapon planning software throughout its lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to translate customer requirements into software designs.
  • Support development, enhancement, and integration of software functionalities and interfaces.
  • Create and maintain documentation for architectures, requirements, and design specs.
  • Debug, triage, and resolve issues to ensure continuous operation and performance.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation activities (unit/integration/system).
  • Contribute to software development processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Work with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers to meet objectives.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team in Maryland Heights, MO, supporting future franchise programs within Boeing. This role involves developing advanced software solutions for the next-generation Mission Planning system used by the Department of Defense. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a Scrum team, working within a SAFe Agile framework to deliver high-quality weapon planning software.

The position requires expertise in microservices architecture, with a focus on utilizing JavaScript and React for front-end development and C# for back-end services. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical defense systems, contributing to projects that enhance national security and operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovative software development, problem-solving, and working collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant software development experience. U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance is essential. Candidates should have demonstrated experience with programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, C#, and C++, along with a solid understanding of REST APIs.

Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in cross-functional teams are critical for success. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, project tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps, and version control systems such as Git are also necessary. The candidate should be adept at documenting software designs, interfaces, and test plans, ensuring clarity and maintainability of code.

Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in defense or aerospace software projects, knowledge of cybersecurity principles, and experience with modular and open systems design. Additional skills such as experience with .NET MAUI and understanding of software architecture patterns will be considered advantageous.
