Job summary

STARLIMS Corporation is seeking an experienced software engineer to advance our agent platform and runtime, delivering scalable, multi-step agent systems integrated with enterprise data. You will own planning, tool-calling, and durable execution, while ensuring safety, observability, and human-in-the-loop oversight.

This role emphasizes reliability and regression-safe agent behavior within AWS-based infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with production systems.
• Strong understanding of LLM behavior and multi-step run failure modes.
• Experience with LLM APIs, tool calling, and planning and execution loops.
• Experience debugging non-deterministic systems.
• Solid backend and cloud experience (AWS).
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the runtime our agents execute on: planning loops, tool calling, state management, durable execution, and failure recovery.
• Build the layer through which agents reach platform data and external systems safely.
• Design coordination and handoff across agents and workflows.
• Make agent behavior versionable, testable, and regression-safe across releases.
• Build reusable primitives so new agents are configured rather than rebuilt from scratch.
• Ground agent decisions in authoritative enterprise data.
• Implement human-in-the-loop with approval gates and evidence for agent decisions.
• Turn user corrections into signals to improve the agent.
• Define production metrics for agent quality, reliability, etc.
• Integrate agents with platform APIs and enterprise systems.
• Design controlled execution paths with complete audit trails.
• Work on backend services on AWS and IaC pipelines.
