Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Software Engineer on Account Security to protect users and creators from account takeovers. You will own end-to-end features across the stack, collaborating with InfoSec, Economy, User teams, and Roblox Safety to shape product direction and security policies.

Required is 3+ years in software engineering, experience with user-facing services, and proficiency in GoLang, Python, C#, or Javascript. This role is based in San Mateo, CA and includes equity and benefits.

As a Software Engineer on Account Security, you will help protect Roblox users, creators, and the broader community from bad actors. We are an outcome oriented team that has the tremendous latitude to make changes across the Roblox technical stack to secure accounts. Past examples of work include work to model post-login suspicion, cryptographically bind user credentials to devices, malware detection, and work to detect and prevent asset laundering that typically is used to monetize ATOs.

You’ll join Roblox's Safety organization, whose mission is to become the leader in civil immersive online communities by detecting, removing, and preventing problematic accounts, content, and behavior, and by keeping accounts secure and free from compromise. The team draws on a broad tech spectrum, including machine learning, classifiers, experimentation, automation, and AI-powered filters, partnering with product teams to shape the roadmap, build safety products, and measure impact on our community of users and developers.

You Will:

• Own the design, implementation and landing of features to prevent, detect and mitigate account takeovers.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering/Computer Science
• Experience working on user facing applications or services
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as GoLang, Python, C#, and Javascript.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product stakeholders to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• A strong commitment to designing, implementing, and maintaining systems that prioritize user safety, data integrity, and compliance with safety policies.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range$182,170—$227,370 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
