Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners LLC in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Software Engineer for a long-term hybrid contract with a major Financial Services client. You will design and develop enterprise Java applications, microservices, and responsive UI components, collaborating across teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates bring strong Java/J2EE, Spring, Angular, REST, SQL, and DevSecOps experience, plus agile practices and proficiency with Jira/Confluence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent
• 8 years Java Engineering
• 6 years Angular UI Engineering
• 3 years of REST or SQL Engineering
• Kubernetes/OCP
• 8+ years of Java with Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, XML, JSON, REST, JDBC, JPA, and unit testing
• 6+ years building responsive UIs with Angular
• 3+ years SQL Server development, including queries, stored procedures, data modeling
• Strong understanding of J2EE, OO design, and design patterns
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices
• Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD
• Strong Agile/Scrum experience
• Proficiency with Jira and Confluence
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication
• Ability to collaborate across development, QA, product, and operations teams

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.
• 8 years Java Engineering
• 6 years Angular UI Engineering
• 3 years of REST or SQL Engineering (ideally both)
• Kubernetes/OCP
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java application development using Java, Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, XML, JSON, RESTful APIs, JDBC, JPA, and Unit Testing frameworks.
• 6+ years of experience developing responsive and scalable user interfaces using Angular.
• 3+ years of experience in SQL Server database development, including query optimization, stored procedures, and data modeling.
• Strong understanding of J2EE architecture, object-oriented design principles, and industry-standard design patterns.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices-based applications.
• Experience implementing and supporting DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum software development methodologies.
• Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence for project tracking, documentation, and team collaboration.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across development, QA, product, and operations teams.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Jira/Confluence
• AI development (Copilot, Devin)
• 1+ year of experience leveraging GitHub Copilot, GitHub Copilot Agent, Devin, or other AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and productivity enhancement.
• Knowledge of application monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms.
