Amentum is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Low-side LMS team in Hanover, MD. The team develops, deploys, and supports mission-focused cyber training solutions used across multiple locations.
Team members work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment supporting the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, software development, testing, deployment, infrastructure management, and operational support. Engineers work closely with instructors, developers, and system administrators to deliver reliable, realistic training capabilities.
Unlike many software organizations where engineers are assigned to a single product or technology stack, members of the Low-side LMS team contribute across a diverse portfolio of applications, services, and supporting infrastructure. This provides opportunities to build broad technical expertise while collaborating with teammates to deliver integrated solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.

Work Schedule: The courses being supported are active from 0800-1500 M-F. Contract core hours are 1000-1400. The Low-side LMS team is flexible on arrival and departure time however there are occasions where one or more Low-side LMS team members will be needed to support testing and maintenance before or after course hours.
The Software Engineer will contribute to the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of software applications and supporting infrastructure. Team members are expected to broaden their experience across multiple areas of the software development lifecycle while developing technical expertise in one or more areas.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and two (2) years of relevant experience;
OR
Bachelor's degree in the same fields and five (5) years of relevant experience;
OR Associate's degree (or 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in a computer-related field) and seven (7) years of relevant experience;
OR High school diploma/GED and nine (9) years of relevant experience.
The DevOps teampositions require fully cleared individualswith an extensive range of experience and abilitiesto developapplications for Computer Network Operations. As a team weimplement and supportall stages of the Software Development Lifecycle and recognize the benefit of having team members that specialize in specific stages of that cycle.As a team member you should be able to fit into at least one of the following specializations(UI/UX, Backend Services, DevOps/Integration)with a desire or ability toexpandintoat least one other specialization.
Focus on designing and creating the student and instructor facing interfaces and need the following skills at a minimum:
interface with API endpoints, databases, and other dataflow solutions
Focus on creatingdataflow componentsto collect, parse, and provide information to other services or for exfiltration and deliverables. You will need the following skills at a minimum:
Focus on the management and maintenance of the virtualization and deployment solutions used to ensure rapid validated deployments of services and applications. You will need the following skills at a minimum:
plan, implement, and maintain scalable application and service deployments in an on-premises Kubernetes clusters using tools like helm, fleet, git, rancher, lens,ork9s
develop and deploy applications, services, and systems within virtualized environments, preferably vSphere, Docker, and Kubernetes
support API and dataflow systems
perform HTTPS certificate management
design service, application, and network architecturesto support deployment and data flow
demonstrate the ability to parse and understand existing code bases, contributing to the continued development of class management tools
show proficiency inusingsource code management systems, with a focus on Git
apply valid software development pipelines to develop, test, document and deploy projects
use and receive tasking through project management systems such as Jiraor GitLab
provide comprehensive documentation and support for various levels of customers
be a self-motivated individual that can think outside the boxto stay ahead of issues that could prevent the successful delivery of course material and activities while supporting the team as a whole
learn about the other specializations to better work with and support other development efforts
