Job summary

Stanley Reid is recruiting for a Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain real-time ETL pipelines using Java and Apache Storm. The role focuses on scalable data processing, transforming streams into insights, and ensuring the reliability of data feeds within a DoD/IC context.

The successful candidate will contribute across the full software lifecycle, from debugging to testing, in a Linux environment, with opportunities for growth and exposure to cutting-edge data technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, plus 2 years of software engineer experience, or Master's degree, or 4 years of experience.
• Experience with the Linux CLI and scripting with Bash/Python.
• Recent Java development in a Linux environment.
• Familiarity with real-time streaming concepts and big data ecosystems (Storm/Spark/Flink/NiFi).
• Experience with GitLab CI and Docker.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Familiarity with Atlassian Jira/Confluence is a plus.

The Role

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain scalable, real-time ETL pipelines. This role is focused on using Apache Storm and Java to process large-scale data streams and transform raw data into actionable insights. You will work as part of a team responsible for ensuring the high performance, availability, and reliability of the organization's data feeds. The position involves the full software development lifecycle, including debugging, integrating, and testing software components.

What You'll Bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and two (2) years of experience as a Software Engineer, OR a Master's degree in a related discipline, OR four (4) years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Experience with the Linux CLI and scripting with Bash/Python.
• Recent software development experience with Java in a Linux environment.
• Familiarity with real-time streaming concepts, distributed computing fundamentals, and big data ecosystems such as Apache Storm, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, or Apache NiFi.
• Experience with CI/CD principles and tools like GitLab CI.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Experience with Git for version control.
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence) is a plus.

Location

Annapolis Junction, MD. This position has up to 16 hours of telework, depending on tasking.
