BHE GT&S is seeking a senior software engineer in Omaha, NE to provide architectural guidance and hands-on leadership for complex application development and deployment efforts. This role emphasizes DevOps maturity, automation, and secure, reliable delivery in an on-site, full-time capacity.

The candidate will collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and business teams to drive releases, improve deployment processes, and ensure operational readiness across cloud and containerized environments.

Formación

Responsabilidades

• Lead end-to-end release planning, scheduling, and execution for application deployments across development, test, and production environments.
• Design, maintain, and enhance Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes.
• Coordinate production migrations and ensure all testing, approvals, security reviews, and implementation requirements are completed before deployment.
• Manage deployment accounts, shared service accounts, certificates, secrets, and related governance processes.
• Support containerized and cloud-hosted application environments and associated operational tooling.
• Develop and maintain automated processes for deployments, certificate management, monitoring, and operational support activities.
• Implement and support monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability solutions to improve application reliability and performance.
• Partner with development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams to ensure successful application delivery and operational readiness.
• Lead audit support activities, maintain control documentation, and ensure compliance-related tasks are completed on schedule.
• Identify opportunities to improve release quality, deployment efficiency, operational stability, and overall DevOps maturity.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Omaha, Nebraska. Candidates must reside in the Omaha area and be able to work in the office on a full-time basis.

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the levels posted, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.

The senior software engineer provides advanced technical expertise and guidance in the architecture, design, programming, testing, documentation and implementation of complex computer applications and systems. Evaluates software packages, provides recommendations to management and business clients, and identifies best technology solutions. Identifies future needs for key technologies and techniques and develops plans for adoption. This is considered a leadership position within the application development organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, or related technical field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

• Software Engineer 1: Related internship experience in business software application development preferred.
• Software Engineer 2: A minimum of two years of experience in business software application design, development, integration and/or installation. Working knowledge of programming in client/server or web development environment.Working knowledge of open systems object design methodologies, architecture methodologies, security practices and integration techniques. Working knowledge of relational database technology, structured analysis concepts, and software design patterns.
• Software Engineer 3: A minimum of five years of experience in business software application design, development, integration and/or installation. Demonstrated knowledge of programming in client/server or web development environment.Demonstrated knowledge of open systems object design methodologies, architecture methodologies, security practices and integration techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of relational database technology, structured analysis concepts, and software design patterns.
• Sr. Software Engineer: A minimum of eight years of experience in business software application design, development, integration and/or installation. Advanced knowledge of programming, integration and application security models; and proficiency with a variety of software development tools. Expert knowledge of open systems object design methodologies, architecture methodologies, security practices and integration techniques. Advanced knowledge of relational database technology, structured analysis concepts, and software design patterns.

Experience in the industry, or in an environment whose scope, size and complexity are comparable.

Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Business analysis aptitude including communications and interpersonal skills enabling an understanding of client's needs.

Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.

Experience integrating large disconnected enterprise-class systems in a robust, fault-tolerant manner consistent with industry standards.

Able to work in a zero-code-ownership environment where the team members can modify any source file at any time.

An expert understanding of deployment topologies (i.e. ensuring secure, highly available systems).

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Availability for periodic on-call responsibilities.

Experience integrating Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) solutions within an environment with strong change and release management processes and procedures.

Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL database development.

Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in Java and other current computing programming languages.

Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in Microsoft SharePoint and Oracle business intelligence / reporting. Understanding of company's existing IT environment and of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.
