The role has a broad technical scope spanning product test software, embedded imaging firmware and drivers, imaging applications and graphical user interfaces, image enhancement, perception software, and system integration. The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working at the intersection of software, sensors, imaging, artificial intelligence, and embedded systems.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development, testing, integration, and demonstration of innovative technology supporting automotive, autonomous systems, robotics, safety, security, and other demanding sensing applications.

What You’ll Accomplish
  • Deliver reliable, maintainable software that meets defined technical and product requirements.
  • Develop software, algorithms, and test sequences used to evaluate Owl products at multiple stages of development, including wafer test, final product test, and qualification testing.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software and product drivers supporting Owl’s imaging systems.
  • Develop and maintain graphical user interfaces for image capture, image enhancement, image analysis, and image display.
  • Develop, integrate, and optimize image enhancement algorithms and associated software.
  • Contribute to perception software development and system integration for Owl products, demonstration systems, and development programs.
  • Effectively integrate software with Owl’s imaging, sensing, embedded, and perception systems.
  • Identify and resolve software, hardware/software interface, and system-level issues efficiently.
  • Develop software that performs reliably in real-world operating environments.
  • Contribute meaningful improvements to software architecture, development practices, automation, and test coverage.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support successful product development milestones, customer deliverables, demonstrations, and government-funded development programs.
  • Continuously expand technical knowledge and contribute to Owl’s evolving software capabilities.
Role Level & Scope
  • Individual contributor role
Essential Responsibilities
Software Development & Product Test
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software, algorithms, and test sequences used to test and validate Owl products.
  • Develop software supporting wafer-level testing, product final test, qualification testing, and other product verification activities.
  • Develop algorithms and analysis tools to evaluate product performance and identify defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with the Test Engineer to develop, automate, maintain, and improve test capabilities and coverage, and test debug.
Embedded Imaging Software & Product Drivers
  • Define, develop, test, and maintain product drivers and software interfaces required to control and communicate with Owl imaging hardware.
  • Integrate software with sensors, cameras, processors, electronics, and other embedded system components.
  • Support embedded system bring-up, debugging, validation, and troubleshooting.
Imaging Software, GUI & Image Enhancement
  • Develop and maintain software graphical user interfaces for Owl’s imaging products and systems.
  • Develop software supporting image capture, image enhancement, image analysis, and image display.
  • Continue development and enhancement of existing Owl imaging software and GUI capabilities in collaboration with current engineering resources.
Perception Software & System Integration
  • Contribute to computer vision, perception, sensor processing, and AI-enabled software applications.
  • Assist with perception software development and integration into Owl imaging systems.
  • Support integration of object detection, classification, tracking, ranging, and other perception capabilities as applicable to Owl products and programs.
General Engineering Responsibilities
